Keith Brakewell, Stuart Brakewell, and Derek Bell founded Central Power Services back in 1986, in Adlington near Chorley, and operated from humble beginnings in a lock up unit with a Renault Traffic van.

It was at this time that Keith suggested to his son Stuart that America was not the
The business was formed and soon took off and the company relocated to more suitable premises in Garstang. From the very first day, the company focused very heavily on attention to detail and quality of service. This ethos is still the same today as it was 25 years ago; and we believe that this is one reason why so many of our customers from the early years are still relying on CPS to provide their emergency power requirements.
This reputation for high quality service levels, helped CPS attain a dealership for FG Wilson when the company was only 3 years old. After 22 years, CPS is still a major dealer in the FG Wilson global network, and is looking forward to providing the highest levels of service to its customers. More recently within the last 10 years, CPS has added the additional scope of UPS supply to its core activities which make it a truly one stop shop for all emergency power requirements.
Today, employing a staff of 40 across three strategically based offices in the UK, Central Power Services is amongst the few Companies who are actually growing in a recession. ‘This is down to our great team of staff who make sure all our customers have the right equipment, on time and on budget’ says Stuart Brakewell ‘Our staff are passionate about providing good quality service with a smile.’
Stuart shares the Directors role now with his younger brother Jonathan who is the European Sales Director for Central Power Services and who also oversees the hire side of the business.
‘When customers have a power failure their main concern is getting the power supply back on line – we operate a 24/7 servicing and hire facility throughout the UK and with in-cab vehicle tracking, and our own in house delivery vehicles we can inform our customers of accurate time of arrival by the engineers.
