Emergency Power Response – 60th Birthday Celebration at Bartle Hall Hotel

Project Overview

Bartle Hall Hotel is a renowned country house venue set within 16 acres of landscaped grounds on the outskirts of Preston. Popular for weddings, private functions, and large celebrations, the venue is known for delivering high-quality service and exceptional guest experiences.

At 3pm, just hours before a 60th birthday celebration was due to begin, the hotel was informed of an emergency maintenance shutdown that would result in a temporary loss of power to the venue at 5pm that day. The situation was entirely outside the hotel’s control.

With guests due to arrive shortly, food and wine preparations, lighting, heating, and final arrangements were affected, placing the smooth delivery of the event at risk without prompt action.

Challenges

The emergency maintenance was scheduled for 5pm, leaving very limited time to assess the issue or implement a suitable solution before the evening event. Bartle Hall’s operations rely heavily on a stable electrical supply, and the outage affected every part of the venue’s preparation – from kitchen equipment and refrigeration to lighting and environmental comfort.

Given the time sensitivity and the expectations of the hosts and their guests, the hotel required a dependable, high-capacity temporary power supply to be deployed without delay. Any extended downtime would have resulted in significant disruption and reputational risk.

Our Solution

Upon receiving the call, our emergency response team mobilised immediately. A 100kVA generator was selected as the appropriate temporary power solution, capable of supporting essential services throughout the venue.

The generator was transported to Bartle Hall, positioned safely on-site, and connected to the venue’s distribution system. All work was carried out quickly and professionally, with thorough testing completed to ensure stable and reliable power before the event commenced.

The installation restored full operational capability to the hotel. Kitchens resumed preparations, lighting and heating systems returned to normal, and the event spaces were made ready in good time for guest arrival.

Outcome

The temporary power solution allowed the 60th birthday celebration to proceed successfully. While there was a brief delay at the start of the evening, power was restored and the event ran smoothly for the remainder of the night.
