Delivering Christmas Joy – Supporting the Barnardo's Gift Appeal with Cotton Court
Location:
Preston, Lancashire
Focus:
Community Support & Seasonal Giving
Initiative Type:
Employee-Led CSR Activity
Overview
Supporting the local community is central to Central Power Services’ values, particularly during the festive season when the need for support is often greatest. The Cotton Court & Barnardo’s Gift Appeal is a well‑established Lancashire initiative that brings businesses and residents together to ensure children and young people supported by Barnardo’s have a gift to open at Christmas.
Central Power Services was proud to take part in the appeal, helping contribute to an initiative that spreads joy and support across the community.
Gifts like these bring joy, reassurance, and a sense of inclusion for young people supported through the appeal
How Our Team Got Involved
To support the appeal, we organised a Christmas Jumper Day at our workplace, encouraging team members to:
- Wear festive jumpers
- Donate £1 each
- Bring a brand‑new, unwrapped toy for collection
Alongside our in‑office quizzes, games, and annual Christmas celebration, the initiative created a fun, engaging, and meaningful way for the team to give back together.
We were also grateful for the generous support of our partner, Compass Fuel, whose contribution helped strengthen the overall impact of the campaign.
Together, these efforts resulted in the collection of over 100 gifts, all of which were delivered directly to the appeal organisers for distribution to families in need across Lancashire.
Making a Difference Where It Matters
Every donation made a meaningful difference to a child or young person who might otherwise have gone without a present. Gifts like these bring joy, reassurance, and a sense of inclusion for young people supported through the appeal.
The initiative also strengthened team spirit internally, giving colleagues the opportunity to come together, celebrate the end of the year, and support a cause that directly benefits the local community.
The Power of Partnership and Community Action
Our involvement in the Cotton Court & Barnardo’s Gift Appeal reflects Central Power Services’ commitment to giving back and supporting those who need it most. By collaborating with community partners and encouraging participation across our team, we helped contribute to a local initiative that delivers genuine, real impact.
This project demonstrates how collective action – from businesses, partners, and individuals – can make a meaningful difference and help ensure more families experience a brighter festive season.
