Bringing the Community Together
For the second year running, our Assistant Service and Hire Manager Ollie and his wife Natalie opened their home in Calder View for a Christmas lights switch-on, welcoming neighbours, friends and families to share in the festive spirit.
What started as a simple idea to bring the cul-de-sac together has quickly become a much-anticipated local event - creating a warm, friendly atmosphere while raising funds for an important cause.
This year, donations from the evening raised an incredible £400 for The Matthew Hesmondhalgh Memorial Fund - CRY, building on the £150 raised in the first year.

Growing Year on Year
The event continues to grow as more local families come along to support the switch-on and the charity behind it. With strong community backing and momentum building, Ollie and Natalie are already planning a third event later this year.
It’s a fantastic example of how small, local initiatives can make a real difference when people come together.
Supporting Local Charities
Central Power Services was proud to support the evening with a monetary donation, food and refreshments, helping create a welcoming atmosphere while ensuring that as much as possible could be directed to the charity.
The festive generosity didn’t stop there. When Santa later visited the cul-de-sac on his float a couple of weeks later, a further £60 was raised for Derrian House Children’s Hospice.
A Tradition That’s Here to Stay
We are incredibly proud of Ollie and Natalie for the time and care they put into organising the event each year. Opening their home to the community and championing causes that matter locally reflects the kind of spirit that makes a real difference.
It’s proof that when communities come together - especially at Christmas - something truly special can happen.
We’re looking forward to seeing the lights switched on again this year.
