Role Overview

We are looking for a dependable Yard Supervisor to carry out the day to day running of our yard and workshop area. The role is key to maintaining our equipment in top condition, ensuring the yard operates safely and efficiently, and supporting our wider operations team with logistics and site preparation.

HGV CLASS ONE licence would be an advantage.

Key Responsibilities

Equipment Preparation

  • Clean and inspect generators and related equipment when returned from hire.
  • Prepare machines to an hire ready condition, including running up and basic checks.
  • Work with the Hire Desk and Operations team to understand priority equipment and plan workloads accordingly.

Loading & Logistics

  • Operate a forklift to safely load and unload generators and associated equipment.
  • Assist drivers and engineers with site preparations, vehicle loading, and basic support work on customer sites when needed.

Yard & Workshop Management

  • Keep the yard, workshop, and storage areas clean, organised, and compliant with safety standards.
  • Ensure all tools, lifting gear, and yard equipment are kept in good condition and report any faults.

Stock & Supplies

  • Monitor and request orders for fuel, lubricants, cleaning materials, and general consumables.
  • Assist with picking parts for engineer’s jobs for service and hire.
  • Stock checks and maintain clear records of fluid usage and deliveries.

Team Support & Communication

  • Work closely with engineers, the hire team, and service staff to ensure efficient turnaround of equipment.
  • Take pride in ensuring our yard and equipment reflect the high standards of our business.

Skills & Experience

Essential:

  • Experience in a similar yard, workshop, or hands on operational role.
  • Ability to safely operate forklifts (forklift license preferred or willingness to train).
  • Practical, physically fit, and willing to work outdoors in varying weather.
  • Proactive, organised, and a good communicator.

Desirable:

  • Experience with generators, plant, or similar machinery.
  • Basic mechanical knowledge or workshop experience.
  • Familiarity with health and safety in an industrial or yard environment.
  • HGV class one licence would be an advantage, covering holidays and sickness and driving in our busy periods.
