Meet Daniel Peck, Service Repairs Coordinator at CPS
Date: 11/04/25
Twenty-one-year-old Daniel Peck’s career journey is a perfect example of how taking the right opportunity can shape professional growth.
Having joined Central Power Services just 20 months ago, Daniel is already making a daily impact for customers and colleagues in his role as Service Repairs Coordinator.
Read on to find out about his experiences of the CPS Graduate Trainee Scheme.
Learning from inside the business
Daniel’s career at CPS began straight after college, where he completed a Level Three qualification in Professional Construction. He had discovered the Graduate Trainee Programme when searching for his next opportunity, Daniel applied and was invited to join the programme in 2023.
Now, he’s happy that he joined the company as a young professional. “It was a good decision to start young so I could learn from inside the business. You get hands-on experience straight away.” he explained.
Training with variety and responsibility
As part of the Graduate Trainee Programme, Daniel spent time working in different departments at CPS to explore the different areas and gain insight into where his strengths and interests lie.
“CPS gave me the choice to build my career in whichever department I wanted after trying them out,” he said. He was particularly interested in the service department, where he is now based.
He learnt about service contracts, liaising with suppliers, and providing cost estimates for generator repairs. His responsibilities have grown over time, and he now oversees all service reports and service purchase orders after obtaining prices and finalising quotes.
A typical day for Daniel starts with reviewing reports from engineers who have visited customer sites. If any repairs are needed, Daniel works with suppliers to source any required parts and organises quotes for customers. He explains: “Every day there will be different challenges, and the satisfaction of overcoming a problem quickly and seeing customers happy is great.”
A supportive, professional environment
One of Daniel’s highlights of his role at CPS is the “really good work environment”, he shares.
“Everyone gets along with each other, and even when things get stressful, the team is professional and supportive. It’s a job where you see rewards for your efforts, especially when customers send positive feedback.”
The opportunity to work with high-end customers is another aspect he enjoys. “For someone my age, I’m already working in a professional business, dealing with high-end customers, and problem solving day-to-day,” he says. “It’s never a boring job!”
Learning whilst earning
Daniel’s advice to other young people considering Central Power Services as a career option?
“I’d definitely encourage others to apply for a job here. It’s so confusing working out what you want to do when finishing college/University, but with the Graduate Trainee Programme I got to work in different departments, learn and get paid at the same time. It’s an opportunity you won’t regret.”
