Power Through Exam Season With Our Emergency Generator
Date: 19/05/25
As any parent of teenagers knows, and as many of us remember from our own experience, late spring and early summer are exam season. The time of year when millions of high school pupils and university students gather in the sports hall to put everything they’ve learned on their courses to the test.
Exams are the culmination of two or three years of hard work, and it’s no exaggeration to say that they can determine the future for those taking them. They’re often a one-off chance to prove yourself. Failure could set you back a year for retakes, stop you from getting the university place you hoped for, or even end your academic career completely.
So, you want to be sure that you’re giving those taking the exams the very best possible chance to do well. The last thing you want is for the lights to go out, or for the air conditioning to fail, on the big day. That’s where Central Power Services can rush to the rescue with 24/7 emergency generators.
The big moment for millions
Figures show that no less than 5,811,790 GCSEs were taken in 2024, and this number is increasing every year, rising almost 5% from 2023. In addition, pupils sat 825,390 A-levels, last year, up 2.4%. Obviously, most pupils will sit more than one exam, but that still means that hundreds of thousands of young people are depending on schools to keep the power on for their exams.
In addition to school exams, there’s also almost three million students studying at universities and other higher education centres, with 2,053,520 undergraduates and 883,635 post graduate students in 2023. Most of these students will also face end of year exams too, bringing the total to almost nine million exams every summer!
Our emergency generator passes the test
If your school power grid goes down in the middle of exam season, Central Power Services can respond rapidly, 24 hours a day, to deliver and install an emergency generator fast, to stop things going dark when students need to be at their brightest.

Preparing for the exams
Many schools and universities already have back-up generators installed, ready for just such an eventuality, and Central Power Services can help here too.
